    Hydroxychloroquine and the flu

They provide flu shots free of charge at my job, but I usually don't get one. I'd rather leave it for the people who really need it--there are a number of older people in my building.

Plaquenil hydroxychloroquine is in a class of drugs called disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs, which are used to decrease inflammation, pain and joint damage. While today it is used to treat autoimmune conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus, it was originally used as an anti-malaria drug. Hydroxychloroquine HCQ, sold under the brand name Plaquenil among others, is a medication used for the prevention and treatment of certain types of malaria. Specifically it is used for chloroquine-sensitive malaria. Other uses include treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and porphyria cutanea tarda. It is taken by mouth. I know this has been asked before, but I can't recall the answer. I'm currently taking plaquenil, enbrel, and mtx. The enbrel and mtx are a double whammy on the immune system, and I was wondering if there would be a benefit to getting the flu shot.

Also, can you get the flu shot with my medications? But with a compromised immune system, is it a good idea to get one anyway?
