    Hydroxychloroquine psoriatic arthritis

I am new to this struggle and my MD is trying to be rather conservative because severe hypothyroidism is complicating my symptoms. But, any info I find is that this medication is sometimes used for RA and can actually make psoriasis worse.

Background Antimalarials have been reported to worsen preexisting psoriasis, therefore is commonly avoided by the clinicians in the treatment of psoriatic arthritis PsA. With the lack of any solid evidence, this precludes the potential use of hydroxychloroquine HQ as a part of the treatment. Arthritis Foundation National Advocacy Board member and psoriatic arthritis warrior, Kevin Brennan wrote an article published in the Washington Post and was also featured in an interview on NPR’s All Things Considered, to raise awareness about those living with immunosuppression and the coronavirus – COVID-19. Live Yes! Are there special precautions those living with rheumatoid arthritis RA should take around the coronavirus COVID-19, given a compromised immune system?

How long did Plaquenil/Hydroxychloroquine take? DailyStrength Last week my doc added plaquenil to the mix. I have a pharmacist friend that says it can take up to a year to work, but once its kicks in it can be really good. I suggest you ask your rhuemie for additional help in the meantime. I have had RA going on 12 years, and originally way back when I ws given plaquenil alone and it did nothing.
